What is this?
For my Capstone I connected my passion of baking to the field of business. From the end of January to the beginning of May I held bake sales during my x-band lunch and different days of the week. During my sales, I had different baked goods such as brownies, different kinds of cookies and cupcakes, and candy. Throughout my sells I kept track of all the money I spent, made, and were given as gifts. Outside of my sales I did outside baking projects, which involved making individual cakes and decorating them. To document my work I took pictures and kept spreadsheets as well as created this online website.
Why Am I doing this?
I decided to do this as my capstone because I wanted to do something that I already loved doing and make better. I knew that I was a big fan of the kitchen and I knew that from a young age because I always observed my mother while she cooked. Out of my three siblings and I, I was always her cooking assistant who pre-cutted the veggies, got the spices, combined everything together, and did whatever else was necessary. I slowly learned how to cook but I knew that the artistic side of me loved the way pastries looked, so I picked up on baking. My mother was more of the cooker in the family where as I was the baker. I realized that I also loved creating things with my own hands and making things for others. I saw a combination of all that in baking. With baking I am able to make something by combining together small pieces of ingredients into making something that is beautifully a whole in the end. It allowed me to physically create something wonderful from things that are very simple.
By doing my bake sales, I was able to make money that allowed me to buy more ingredients to then again do more bakes sales. In order to make the products for my sales, I needed tools that I did not have such as piping bags and different sized baking pans. I used money from my bake sales to buy equipments. The business side of my capstone occurs because I knew that I would have to keep track of all the money I spent, what it was spent on, and the money made. This all sounded like things that companies had to keep track of, so for me that connects to bakeries.

How in the world am I getting what i need?
In order to get the data I needed for my capstone, I had to hold bake sales. I held these on various days of the week, to see which day bring in money and what time it best. I also changed the items I sold to my customers.
